I asked you, the Just Mimi followers what blogs you would like me to write, and the response was mainly about Bali life…
So here goes, a little blog about my Bali mornings…
Firstly, let me start by saying this is my perception, my views and my opinions and as we may or may not know, we create our reality so how we see things will be very different from the next person.
Right now I’m feeling internally in a good place, full of gratitude, love and abundance, don’t get me wrong this changes day by day moment by moment.
With this said, nowadays, I have a deeper understanding of what I can do to change my thought patterns , my liniti8ng beliefs and a deeper awareness of the present moment (something I will delve deeper into another blog if you would like me to?)
I have always been drawn to Bali as I mentioned in my previous blog ‘Imagination Creates Reality’. Bali to me radiates abundance, the island’s energy is so powerful, the land is bountiful and full of vibrant colours, nature at its finest. And this is reflected in the lifestyle.
My typical day begins at around 6.30 am, I wake in the cool air-conditioned room, every morning I have to pinch myself “is this real I am living my dream waking up in Bali” starting each day with gratitude is essential, starting your day with a big thank you, thank you for being alive, each day a fresh start and a new begining.
As soon as I step out of the bedroom into the main living area of our villa the heat heats me, the warm air fills the room and yet again another wow moment, I open the patio doors looking on the garden and the pool, after dodging the hundreds of little centipedes making there daily march across the floor, they are everywhere, I have no idea where they are going on their ventures, its takes complete awareness as to not trample on them, walking mindfully always. My life is dedeicated to loving and protecting all animals.
I take in the view of the garden, the sounds of nature and again, I’m so grateful.
On occasions, the geckos will leave us little poop gifts outside the door, not quite the big dog turd I would be used to back home, oops apologies for the shit talk.
I head to the kitchen for big glass of fresh cold water, then a highlight of my morning, my lovely, amazing, beautiful, epic morning coffee, a freshly brewed americano with a spoon of palm sugar. Something I get excited about every fricken day, its the small things. As I sip my coffee, I write in my journal, I just let the thoughts flow on the paper. I love writing and find that through my journalling, it has released a creative side of myself I had kept hidden for many years. Writing is my biggest release.
Did I tell you I am writing a book one day?, I have already started it, its going to be the story of my life, a SEX IN CITY vibe on spirituality and finding your life purpose, nothing to serious, just real life, authentic, messy, beautiful and lots of fun. I have lots of stories to share, some that might shock you….. building the suspense……..
I then take my morning dip, a swim for an hour, as I do my laps of the pool I meditate, I breath, I am in the moment, I am one with the water, the elements, meditation does not always have to involve sitting in stillness.
I also repeat my daily affirmation in my head; I have used the same affirmation every day for years, when I walk, when I swim, when I’m shopping, when I’m doing the dishes, on the loo, you name it I say it.
‘I am an abundance of health, wealth, love and happiness.’
The sun starts to radiate over the pool, and I feel her warmth as she caresses my face.
After my morning swim its time for a Yoga stretch.
This isn’t always the main focus of my morning, which coming from a Yoga teacher may come as a shock, what is Yoga anyway, during the past ten years my perception of Yoga has vastly changed, for me it doesn’t matter about what label you want to put upon if you call it Hatha, vinyasa, kriya, raja, or karma.
For me, its nothing to do with the name, I think too many people place labels on things and put their judgement on what they call right or wrong and so many opinions on others.
My quote of the month – ‘You do you and I’ll do me’
So yes I stretch out my body mindfully in a way that feels good on that day, I connect to my heart, I feel, and I am present, I listen to what my body needs and give it the love and gratitude it deserves.
After Yoga my stretch is done, its time to shower, and finally get dressed, as most of the previous tasks were probably done naked (ah the mind wanders, come back please)
Its time for food glorious food, I am so blessed to be living within a 5-minute walk from several vegan, plant-based cafes, the food is divine and the decor just perfect, sipping my morning brew, with views of the passers-by and the cool air as the fans spin above my head. The local cafe is called Good Mantra, and I have my favourite breakfast called Good Karma, tofu scramble, homemade beans, a selection of mushrooms, avocado, lashing of leaves and sourdough bread, (see the pic below) what more could a girl ask for in the morning. (each to there own) are you starting to realise how much I love my food?
Another of my local favs is a place called LIVING FOOD LAB, tofu Benedict to start my day, with a tumeric latte nom nom, this place has a lovely co-working space too.
My workday begins here. I get out my notepad and plan my day. I love what I do, and I am eternally grateful for every lesson I have learnt, and to share this with others, it sends tingles down my spine every time I think of it.
My daily routine, can slightly change soewhat now and again, as in some days I go to a yoga class first at the local shale, Desa Seni, but it always involves gratitude and self-love. Mindful mornings have become habit for me now, with consistency and practice, and has drastically changed my life for the better.
I took me a fricken long time to find my purpose and understand the meaning of life; I’m not saying its always easy, it’s definitely very messy at times. And although it may seem that I am in paradise, and I must admit it is much easier here, however life still throws its curves balls, I have my worries, my fears, my paddies and my strops, yep I have a moody side, only a handful have had the pleasure to meet, lol, but I take one day at a time and know that I will and am the hero of my story.
I embrace the messy and the beautiful.
How do you start your day? Do you have a morning routine, do you start your day with gratitude and self-love?
Do you wake up ready to take on the world, or are you waiting to go back to bed?
Starting your day with a meaningful morning routine will set you up for a better day ahead.
Here are a few tips to start your morning…
🖤Start with gratitude, the moment you wake up make it a priority to say thank you for each new day.
What am I grateful for today?
What am I looking forward to today?
🖤 Write in a gratitude journal all that you are grateful for, maybe start with just 3 things per day, leading towards 10.
🖤 Meditate, take a few minutes to sit in stillness, just focus on your breath, without judgement or criticism, just observe and be, improving your focus to reducing stress, improving emotional stability
Sit in a comfortable position.
Close your eyes and focus on your breath.
Inhale for 4 counts, retain for 4 counts, and exhale for 8.
Every time you feel your mind wandering, bring it back to your breath.
Do this for 3-5 minutes.
🖤 Stretch out your body, as soon as your feet touch the floor take a big stretch, give your body some love.

🖤 Start your day with a glass of water, rehydrate your body, fuel your brain, and jump-start your metabolism.
🖤 Smile and think of something positive, start your day with a game of spot the positives, there is always something even if hard to find. When you smile, your body releases the feel-good neurotransmitters dopamine and endorphins. This means that by smiling first thing when you wake up, you’ll be starting your day in a better mood.
Find out what works for you; explore, there are plenty of other positive things to incorporate into your morning if it enhances your day, increases your energy, your vibration and mood, you got it.
“All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make, the better.”
